The maximum frequency for hearing is around 20 KHz, that’s what most HiFi and audio equipment is designed to work up to.

This top limit deteriorates as you grow older.

I used to work as an audio engineer and the last time I tested my upper limit it was around 17KHz, I think I was in my early 20's at the time.

However everyone is different so it will be difficult to pick an optimum frequency. Lets say they chose 18KHz, im sure some under 20's could hear that, but some who have listened to a lot of loud music etc could have a worse response to their hearing and not hear it.

Maybe they have sampled lots of "yoofs" and got an average frequency to use, still seems like a difficult task to me though!

I saw something on TV a while ago and they experimented with playing classical music, that seems to stop the local "yoofs" spraying their "tag" on a wall as the music seemed to spook them!

i think it will fall through personally, but with the amount of loud music i listen to i don't have to worry anyway Smile

but tbh, it probably will (if it works) just send the offending youth into the housing estates away from the chippys where they will still cause trouble.... i like the idea of paintball emplacements Thumbs Up
