I'm an atheist, religion is not for me but i do enjoy tradition and heritage, especially my own, here in England.
I've lived in Cheltenham and Gloucester all my life, my mate came round last night and told me something i find hard to understand.

Just outside Cheltenham is a lovely little town called 'Church Down' this is because the entire town was constructed around a central church and has now become a nice place.

He told me that the town is now to be called 'North Down' hmm, well not only does it sound shi* but the reasons for it are as you can imagine, because some minorities don't like it.
FFS, i don't go to church but generations have lived there and built it from the bottom up, now the names been wiped.

What a load of shit.

It's lovely how our country is being slowly steralised of all of it's culture to make space for everyone elses beliefs.

Soon we'll have nothing left but other people's tradition, with nothing of our own.

People will look back on the UK in hundreds of years time and say "What did they contribute?" and the reply will be: "Well, they were just a storage space used by the world".

If I lived in Church Down all my life and was proud of my roots there, I’d want to be fu*king buried in Church Down to.

Another load of ballocks poured upon us and all we do is moan about it, I sometimes wonder if the government are deliberatley pushing people just to see how much they can get away with.

Don't really see the point in changing the name of the place to appease somebody else's beleif's. I however coudln't give a monkey's, they've got rid of one more piece of religious based nonsence.

Get rid of it all, from all side's.

current affiars make the 'Rivers of Blood' speech seem like a creditble prediction of the future.

Quote:

Rivers of Blood 1968

On April 22 Conservative MP Enoch Powell provoked the nation with his anti-immigration 'Rivers of Blood' speech made in Birmingham to an audience in the West Midlands Conservative Political Centre. He appealed for an immediate reduction in the 'negligible proportion' of immigrants on the grounds that their numbers would become overwhelming and suggested that those already relocated in England should be repatriated.

The impassioned speech was at times dramatised with the classical references to Virgil's prediction of war: '... the immigrant communities can organise to consolidate their members, to agitate and campaign against their fellow citizens, and to overawe and dominate the rest with the legal weapons which the ignorant and ill-informed have provided. As I look ahead, I am filled with foreboding... Like the Roman, I seem to see, 'the River Tiber foaming with much blood'.'

As a result, Edward Heath, Conservative Leader, sacked Powell from his Shadow Cabinet, interpreting his speech as 'racialist'. Powell would never hold a senior political position again, but his speech remained uppermost in the minds of the nation for years to come.
